The Queerreferat an den Aachener Hochschulen e.V. is a student initiative and registered association that aims to represent the interests of queer students at universities and, more recently, in the city.
Our goals and concerns include the following aspects:
- social, queer-friendly space
- safer space
- representation of queer interests
- learning and recreational space
- counseling center
- information center
- collection point for queer literature and media
If you haven’t visited the Referat yet or have only been there rarely, you can get oriented using this site. We also recommend checking out our calendar and newsletter to stay informed about upcoming events on a weekly basis.
Our Events
We offer a wide range of events and activities where you can get informed and socially engaged. We are always looking for people interested in revitalizing events, bringing in new ideas, and leading evenings.
Our events can be broadly categorized into the following types: open evenings, group/label-specific evenings, organizational meetings, and parties.
Examples of open evenings include the Queercafe and Boardgame Night. Anyone can attend these events, including allies.
Group- or label-specific evenings, such as the Ace & Aro Night or the FLINTA Night, are aimed at specific groups and are also open for questioning or people.
At organizational meetings, our various teams, like the Tech Team or the Library team, or the entire club get together to discuss various matters.
At the Plenary session we discuss upcoming events, decisions affecting the club, and other topics that are important to our members.
Parties or cocktail bars take place internally and externally. Our internal parties is called Baby Unicorn and it’s great if you want to try your hand at mixing cocktails. Just talk to an organizer! Externally, the Queerreferat is also frequently represented via cocktail bars, and we always need diligent helpers.
